yeah, but the point is to do an amendment to the constitution that says essentially no matter what you do, you can't have gay marriage. like now if somewhere, like mass legalized gay marriage, it's within the consitutation and would have to be recognized.
now. how this is as big of a news story as it is considering all the other far more serious shit that is going on in the world, seems a bit insane to me.

I really want to hear what Cheney, who has a close relationship with his gay daughter, has to say on this.

You gotta look at it this way: It's not you that's being 'gay', it's them. So why should anyone have a problem with it? They aren't commiting the actions, deal with it. If we were all the same life would be completely boring and worthless.

I'm just entering in my opinion and speaking my mind. You got a problem with that?

speaking your mind no, communicating poorly, yes. it wasn't clear if you were speaking in general or you were talking to a specific person. Generallly speaking, if you're not speaking to a specific person, you don't start things off with "you have to look at it this way" , as that is a way you address a specific individual.

Bush shouldn’t be reelected, because he is sworn to protect the rights of the American people, and he is taking away a right from about 10% of the population, by banning gay marriage.
You shouldn’t have any sexual interest or care in a person, unless you have sexual interest for them.

I'd say its trying to infringe on states rights. Boys and girls, lets look at it. Take one thing you think is "important" away from the states, it gradually becomes federal. Soon enough, the constitution will be used for controling education and everything else. look at the dangers. Supporting this amendment, whether for or against gay marriage, is supporting the federalization of state powers

this argument doesn't hold because civil rights are upheld by the constitution. state laws do not supercede the constitution. the reason people are trying to get the amendment is because they know any law made will be found unconstitutional.

I doubt it. The judges in the supreme court are unlikely to rule that unconstutional and say that morally it is unethical (remember that if we toss morals, women should be allowed to expose their breasts). To many, that is the case and I highly doubt those laws would be overturned.
I hope those laws are overturned, though.

yeah, but you need to look at it historically. brown vs board of education is strikingly similar even in wording to the concept of seperate but equal was found unconstitutional. Just like this was, as it was in mass.

Its sort of hard to look at it from the point of view of a fairly liberal person. Conservatives see it as just plain wrong, like killing a person. Thats the REAL issue.

wait, I thought states rights was the real issue?
and it doesn't really matter what conservatives think. conservatives thought desegration was just plain wrong.
