I've only seen the Directors cut. I think it's the saddest film I've ever seen.

totally agree that this movie sucked. Everybody made it sound to be the best thing ever to come into this world. Total disappointment. I can't help with the ending though, it's been a long time since I've seen it.

The first one was the only one that was over hyped, no one really cared about the second one. and even with the whole jar jar thing it was infinitely a better movie than darko.

it was a product of it's era. and it was pretty great, but I think you have to remember how things were in the 80s for it to really appeal.

Still, even if you just went with the first, the hype-content ratio was way higher than donnie darko. We've established that it was over hyped, but you still havent addressed your statement that it is the most over hyped. Absolute comments are a pit fall.

how many kids do you know that have star wars episode 1 and 2 icons and avatars? how many kids do you know that still jock episode 1 and 2? there was a lot of initial hype and as soon as the movie came out it all ended. the same is not true for darko. apples and oranges.

i think all the star wars movies were overhyped for no reason.

the orignial 3 (now episodes 4,5,6) were pretty much worth the hype they recieved at the time.
but the new ones seem pretty bad. and the acting is heinous esp. by that kid who plays the soon to be darth vader in attack of the clones. damn he's the worst! and the dude from trainspotting is hella lame too.

the first one was good because you could keep up with all the bullshit
the second one was like "man what the fuck are they talking about?"
the third one was "alright, stop it. let's watch another movie shall we?" they tried so hard to make a cult movie they failed miserably
the action scenes were good, nothing more

hmmm...donnie darko...it wasn't a hype here (perhaps because here aren't any depressive emo kids..:))..I watched it in summer at my English ghetto host family (it was the only of their collection which wasn't a porn or war or disney movie..:))..if you don't understand every word and focus a lot the pictures and the atmosphere..it's nice...a nice good night movie...:))
matrix..well..such a you-need-three-times-to-watch-it-completly-cause-you-watched-it-always-after-partying-while-hanging-out-at-friends-and-sun-is-rising-and-you-aren't-able-to-keep-your-eyes-open-and-to-understand movie....over interpreted....becomes worse and worse on every part....kills itself....sad
has anyone of you watched le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain
( I think it's Amélie from Montmartre in English or something like that...)...??it's just beautiful...like most French movies..
or...the life of David Gale...??

yes, my wifes all time favorite movie. i'm a bigger fan of jeunets' when he works with marc caro like city of lost children and delicatessen, but amelie was pretty good.

hmm...I like it...
it's a really short and simple structured explanation or comment of "matrix"....actually it's just an adjective and a subjective..(ok in this case the adjective is a little longer than usual but esthetically linked by these nice hyphens)...that's not annoying...pah...:))
