    xVunderx's arts and craft post

As Linsee's partner in craft, here's my arts and crafts thread....

I've been dressing Lolita for about 5 years now, but been looking for something that suits my personality and 29 years on the planet better, so been working on some new retro style clothes for one..

I like the idea of old school glamor and I just can't give up wearing huge petticoats. I designed, drafted and made this trying to use up old stash fabric. sill have enough of the fabric to make some kind of accessories.

On that kinda note been trying to figure out a method for making solid body purses, this was my first attempt, still got a ways to go though.

Also started trying to draw more shirts for my non lolita label, just finished the outlines on this little design today...

Now got to get coloring, I enjoy drawing way more than coloring.

My stuff is always kinda girly. We need some more atsy boys posts to even it out!

Viv I love the retro look, and I definitely think you can pull it off. It's something I try to do from time to time, but I haven't put a huge amount of effort into it. I think I need to invest in a dressform so I can start trying to make more things.

Just because women do it better doesn't mean men can't do it too!

I reckon you'd be able to pull it off pretty well too. For dress forms I would say to avoid the ones that dial up and down to different sizes, they never seem to work for me. One girl described the problem best by saying that "because they don't account for curves, as soon as you dial up to the right chest measurements, it ends up the size of a linebacker with an A cup." and that was so true!

I've seem some neat tutorials on making your own with duct tape that are supposed to work pretty well, or there's one called "uniquely you" that is supposed to be pretty good, though I don't know how that one works though.

I will definitely do my research before I buy anything! I'll have to look up that duct tape thing too, that sounds interesting.

I used up more stash fabric!

using fabric I bought years ago feels like free clothes, kinda like how left overs feel like free food.

I picked it up in the home decor section of Hobby Lobby in Tennessee. You'd be amazed the great prints that are hiding in the home decor sections of fabric shops!

So pretty, it's fascinating. It's so cool that you can make such things !
I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

New thing number one! been taking some great pattern drafting classes and drafted this using an old 1940's tailors diagram to my exact measurements, then sewed int in a weekend. hurray!

This I made last night whilst watching Blackadder. Dusty is off on a work trip, and I end up making a hat every time he's gone for a few days. This one is a wire frame foundation which I hadn't done before, and is from a re-print of a Vintage Vogue pattern with a few alterations.
