That's the thing that honestly doesn't make sense. There are quite a few religions that don't condone moderate alcohol consumption. If this is something that's important to you, then why would you choose to follow the one of the only ones that does? Doesn't it's own internal contradiction strike you as odd? "here, drink this wine, it's my blood, but not too much, because it's a sin." Vs. don't drink alcohol, it's not a good idea.
