it's almost pear season so it's be possible. to make syrups it takes a lot of fruit but it should hopefully last a long time too.

I approve this message! Though I kinda want it for evil. It would rock to be able to make violet sodas at home

I can't believe Dusty didn'y update this! We're on our way to home soda-fountain-hood.

Over the weekend we picked up a Sodastream, and some syrups for home soda making. Right now we have Jasmine, Lavender (for me), cherry, black current and strawberry syrups.

Only tried a few basics out so far but they taste great. 1oz of the syrup in a 10oz glass of super fizzy water is all it takes.

Made a few egg creams which rule, but all single syrup flavors so far. Next step to start mixing!! The best idea so far is a peach syrup soda, with raspberry icecream for a peach Melba float!

This was my lavender egg cream!

Years ago, I had something like http://www.sodastreamusa.com/ and didn't really use it because of the CO2 cartridges and ungainly design of the machine (maybe they've improved). Can you make soda just by mixing plain seltzer water -- already carbonated -- and syrup, or do you actually need a carbonating machine?

they have improved it. it's pretty easy to use now.

yeah you can, that's basically what we did before bought the machine. We mostly bought it because vivien drinks a lot of seltzer so it actually will end up being cheaper for us in the long run.
