Before we left for LA last week, I noticed 2 strange beetles in my driveway. I was a bit put off because whenever you see more than one of something like that something is usually up.

Today I find this horror show!...

Couldn't figure what it was so I looked for the beetles (noticed the fungus thing smelled bad and figured the 2 were linked), those things were carrion beetle, they love dead flesh, and things that smell like dead flesh. The creepy tentacle thing apparently is a stinkhorn, a creepy ass fungus that excretes a nasty ass slime to attract things like these beetles in order to spread it's spores.

I'm so creeped out right now.

I found out more! Apparently it's called the dog stinkhorn, and the white "egg" stage before it sprouts into an alien phallus is edible. I'm not going to try it though, it's smelly and I'm not an expert.

Though for Linsee put down some mulch, keep it wet and try to make it rot, that seems to be the best way to get them if you want them!

I want you to know that I'm really going to try this. I told people about this thing at work today, I'm so fascinated.

Must be junkies. They love to experiment and eat all the shit that might get them high. I may be wrong though and it could be some weird professor or I don't know... just someone else.

Ok so the dog stinkhorn were bad enough, but it looks like one of the bugs that came to dine on our dog stinkhorns, had a snack on a phallus stinkhorn first (and no I'm not making that name up)

I just found this growing by my rose bush. Mother nature has a sick sense of humor.
