Star Trek
Up (second tme)
Transformers
Terminator Salvation (second time)
Bonnie and Clyde (I had it on my Netflix queue FOR-EV-ER)

Exactly, it doesn't look like yet another sci-fi movie to me. I also appreciated camera work and gfx.

G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra was full of mind blowing special effects. I loved the part where Duke and his partner ran across the Paris in those speed-up suits. I have to say, we were sitting way to close to the big screen, maybe that played a role. The 'room' (what's the right word for that ?) only had like 5 rows of chairs and we were sitting on the row most distant of the screen. The movie was indeed kinda long but that didn't bother me. Maybe the way how it was put on tape, and maybe because the story was kinda empty but I'm not sure why I found it not that good..

I was actually wondering about that, I've read some pretty bad reviews on The Invention of Lying. Something about their compulsion to tell the truth shouldn't require them tell everything. If this makes sense I'm specifically trying to be vague just in case, but I'm just worried about it being pure exposition which I don't think I could put up with tbh. Maybe you could enlighten me a bit on what it was like cause I was thinking about going to the second-run theatre here and don't want to waste my money. :D

When it comes to films like The Invention of Lying, I try not to take it too seriously. Obviously the dialogue was written for the humor of telling every little bit of truth and not holding back anything. I've met people like this, so I found it personally funny because I could relate. It played a lot on the idea that people tell themselves lies to comfort those around them. Depending on the price of your second-run theater, you may want to wait until it comes out on DVD.

last night i watched the box. I think it places it got to being a little ridiculous but it managed to hold it together enough for me not to say it was awful but still i wouldn't say it was great. I did enjoy the 1970's setting, i think it worked well, it was quite enthralling visually in my opinion but just a bit patchy and forced in places with the story. Not a bad concept of a story though, it does make me a little more curious about the appeal of his other work...donnie darko. Maybe i should have put this in the bad movie thread...its really right on the cusp for me.

Nothing special probably, I just have this huge love for romantic comedies, or a combination of a comedy and drama. I like pretty much every movie there is out there like The Proposal, The Ugly Truth, Brides Wars, Ghosts Of Girfriends Past etc.

Oh and I love long movies. 2+ hours is something I'm really into and this is that kind of movie.

I still can't decide if it was good or bad. I mean I liked it alot throughout, but the ending maybe just ruined the whole movie. I haven't decided yet.

It is scary in ways as it's shot first person and seems more "real". I thought the acting was awesome and would recommend people check the movie out.

Been reading up, there was a main original and alternate ending. The other one sounds better, the ending I seen was a bit too Hollywood cliff hanger style and the other one sounds like it would have been better. But I am now reading of another alternate ending that sounds even better than both!

I enjoyed it. I now see why my friends in high school said that I reminded them of Audrey Hepburn's character, Holly Golightly. She's beautifully spontaneous.
I know what you mean; I've watched some classic movies and found them to be surprisingly horrible. However, my tolerance is higher because I used to be a theater kid.

Saw "How to Train to Your Dragon" with my housemate yesterday. EXCELLENT movie. Granted we were the only adults without kids at the 4pm showing but still....Shrek type humor, and when the little kid in front of us had to ask her mom "Mommy, why is that girl laughing..." we knew it was a good movie. Cause the mom just laughed more.
Love movies like that.

Dude, you need to see the film and make up your own mind. Personally comedy films are something i rarely find that funny but this one i did and so i am saying its worth seeing. I admit I laughed quite a number of times, so yeah it was kinda funny but in a lame way. Like, mostly the jokes were poor and simply lame or dumb which often gets me laughing at how unsophisticated and lame those jokes are.

Somehow this movie reminds me of Rush Hour 3, two cops, one black acting stupid all the time and the other one white, more laid back and wise. I think it's an okay movie. It could turn out worse.

I want to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World because it is one of very few mainstream movies that is actually set in Toronto. There are tons of movies filmed in Toronto, but in most of them they are supposed to take place somewhere else. It would be kind of cool to see a Toronto Transit Commission bus in the movie, and know that it is actually supposed to be a Toronto Transit Commission bus. Or have them mention a street or a restaurant and know exactly where they are talking about.

Batman Under The Red Hood

It was really great. The soundtrack closely reminded me of one used in The Dark Knight, and the film itself was very, very descent... very little childishness in it, I'd say it was almost as much sophisticated as The Dark Kinght itself... or any good full-length anime film. It's that really good.

Two major things that stood out and weren't exactly superb was a bit of Batman's recollections of fellow, childish, cheesy robin and the Joker who was so much worse than the one played by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight.

After finishing the film I was wondering if there had been a real movie filmed already... Well, according to IMDB the Green Lantern is in production already and will be released relatively soon.

I'm excited to see this movie alongside with all the other superhero movies from Marvel and DC, like The Avengers, Thor, Captain America and the allegedly last installment of Batman.

I'm really, really looking forward to seeing this movie. I'd go to the cinema but they don't show movies in English over here and in Russian/Ukrainian they usually suck BIG time. So, I'll have to wait for a release of this film on a Blu-Ray disc.

I've watched the first Wall Street (1985) on one of the weekdays and I really liked it. Really? I didn't like super 8 at all. But I am sure a part of that is the fact I hate JJ Abrams (Star Trek excluded) so I went into the movie with a bit of a bias.

I saw Conan last week. It was awesome! I mean it was really bad and corny, but I expected it to be. So knowing what I was in for I actually really enjoyed it.

Yeah, really, its a fun film. And the little movie during the end credits was good too.

I've been hitting the really cheesy horror movies pretty hard recently.
one of the ones that i love is dark floors
its the movie of the Finnish band Lordi. which i think just makes it much much better

The Amazing Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield did a fantastic job in that role.

I can't understand for the life of me why in Mission Impossible 4 half of the Russians speak true Russian, like agent Sidorov who was chasing agent Hunt, and the other half don't. I liked the flick, though.

It is! I saw it just once years ago, video/sound was average quality and the film dubbed in Russian (which usually means overall crappy experience). So, after seeing that post of yours I thought why not see it again.

It looks to me a lot like a crossover between Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Love the humor in this film. And it's a pity there's just one film. They should've made more!

Well, I guess it all comes down to money as usual? Meaning, this show didn't make enough greens? If that's the case that sucks :|

Yeah it was down to ratings, obviously its ratings could have been much higher based on the fanbase it holds now but its just unfortunate that the figures didnt reflect that at the time.

I'm a bit behind, but we have been trying to stay on top of movies in the $1 Theater:
Savages
Moonrise Kingdom
The Amazing Spiderman
Dark Knight Rises
Paranorman
I Am

We're going to see The Watch today

Hubby and I saw a pre-screening of Lincoln on Wednesday. It was an excellent movie. I believe that it was made with the concept that many people don't know the history of the man and the war, because I felt there was an abundance of exposition.

However, it was an excellent piece of work from Steven Speilberg. I'm convinced that Daniel Day-Lewis only crawls out of his cave whenever he needs an Oscar.
