For me Halloween is a great excuse to watch horror movies...not that you really need an excuse but it inspires me to seek out some cool horror movies. So if anyone knows of some fairly new or fairly obscure horror movies that are worth a watch then please recommend them to me.

Go see the newest Saw movie in the theatres!

Have you seen the new Halloween movie that Rob Zombie produced or whatever?

You should send a myspace message Amy's way, she could give you a really, really good list.

I probably will go to see saw even though it was kinda played out after the first instalment. I'm looking for something that is a bit different that i can pick up on DVD.

i just recently stumbled upon a movie that is considered a classic: "Dead Alive" (in the US, "Braindead" around the rest of the world)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103873/
i recommend it with 2 thumbs up!

not really horror, but a splatter/comedy

the Rob Zombie ones were decent- the Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses. Though I enjoy horror movies with a lot of campiness to them, I found those fun, I enjoyed the Tarantino/Rodriguez Grindhouse set, and the Bruce Campbell classic Bubba Ho-Tep.

For Halloween this year at the farm we had a zombie party which included these movies- Fido, 28 Days Later, and the original Dawn of the Dead. All movies I enjoy for Halloween

now that you say "campiness" has anyone seen Sleepaway Camp?

the classic romero films are the best.
I love most zombie movies just becuase there fucking sweet.
well that is except for the resident evil franchise because they absolutley slaughtered the games as soon as the movie came out and the main character wasnt even involved with the game.
I too am a fan of the 28 days later franchise, I cant wait till the next one.

The best horror movie I've ever seen the Evil Dead 1 (1981). Invincible. I've seen a lot of good horror movie but for me this is the number one. Old one, but simply perfect.

I don't think gay is the right word, i mean the film has nothing to do with homosexuality?

I HATED Max Payne. I spent most of the movie laughing at how corny it was.

You should try Masters Of Horror , both seasons are amazing. The must-see is definitely the last episode of season one - Imprint.

As for movies , there are some somewhat old but good ones like Jeepers Creepers , Doctor Giggles. A new flick that just came out is Midnight Meat Train , Vinnie Jones having a main role ....as the BAD guy. The movie is awesome , only that the end part ruins the fun lol.
And a movie that MUST be seen - Let The Right One In. It's a norwegian piece of horror / drama , the drama part being of a human relationships type , not the cliched love shows type. Meh , it's still about love , to a point...yet the movie is simply lovely.

I like Asian horror, I still havent seen Oldboy yet (I just cant watch horror movies alone) but "A Tale of Two Sisters" was really good, and I loved "The Eye", I liked the second one too but it wasnt as good as the first. Saw "Ju-on" in theatres and the fear kicked in after I left and was half way home, because of that I never watched the american remake and still cant. I saw the american remake The Ring before I saw Ringu but was never able to make myself watch the sequels.
Ultimate theme here is ghost stories scare the crap outta me.

Asian horror is intense. I had to turn off Audition about two-thirds of the way through.
