I just wanna know why are you straigth edge?

Im straigth edge because i hate drugs, alchocol and crap like this...
I love hardcore music, but i also like powerviolence, grindcore, crust, trash, punk, d beat...
i'm only straigth edge in my town and i have met only 2 straigth edge persons in my life...
I discovered straigth edge by lisening minor threat and charles bronson :)

i have been into the hardcore seen since i was like in the 6th grade...i was very unique...i had to grow up faster then most people and it made me stand out and the only thing that seemed to help me cope and express the way i felt was through music and i found minor threat and charles bronson also im very into the local scene here but none of it is sXe...my Civics and Economics teacher is sXe and he was telling me about how he never in a million years thought that he would meet somebody in my town that was straight edge....i thought it was pretty cool

Hm. Why I'm Straight Edge?... hm...I try to spell it right...
Really I'm a Punk, but in my ... strange :) country ... Punk = dirty drunken bastard... And it's true... Punk-culture is almost dead...
It is only few of punks, that understand what is it - punk. Other - only...hm..pouseurs(I hope it is right word )... many of them doesn't know what DIY means ... they're think, that lifestyle "sex,drugs,rock-n-roll" - is cool...
And I become Straight Edge because there is no necessity to me... to do drugs, to drunk, or have sex without any feelings ...
I think it is wrong - turn into stupid beast under the effect of drugs/alchocol... And in Russia alchocol - very big problem... I always stayed against self-killing with that shit.
It is right - always be able to think clear. To control your actions. And be sure, that tomorrow you will known, what was yestearday.
I don't want, that my life pass from dose to dose (and no important what kind of drug will be used... nicotine, heroine , coffeine, cocain - peoples get accustomed to all of this shit if they use it for slow self-destruct)

my main thing: i like the feeling of knowing i'm experiencing things untainted. if i go to see a band or hang out with friends, it's awesome knowing that the feelings you bring away from those times are perfect and nothing made them seem better than they were, it's reality without distortion and it makes me appreciate everything so much more now. x

I'm straight edge because I'm a control freak, I can't stand not being in control of myself or my situation. I also absolutely loathe the excuse of 'being under the influence' for doing something that yourself or someone else will regret in the morning. For example, 'I'm sorry that I cheated on you, I was drunk, I didn't know what I was doing'. How lame?! So I'm saving myself and my loved ones the pain that that excuse can cause them by not taking something stupid. I want all my mistakes to be mine and mine alone.

I think you you have totally got the wrong idea about straight edge. If you claim straight edge it's for yourself, you don't need to go around saying to everyone that your straight edge.

I am straight edge, I don't care if it is cool or un-cool, I do it for myself.

I'm a Straight Edge coz ever since I was young I lived by the belief alcohol, drugs and promiscuous sex is fucked up and lead your life down the drain (most times) so when I got into punk music later on, it came pretty natural to me. I was so happy when I found out about Straight Edge; that there are shit loads of other people who stand for the same belief I had etc. Plus, I HAVE tried drinking a few times to see if alcohol was as great as they say it was and found that it did nothing else but to give me a headache right away etc etc. haha so yeah, alcohol doesn't go that well with me anyway, and I'm not much of a partier :P
Its hard to watch all these smart kids with future getting into wrong shit like that and become complete losers. Teen culture is pretty bad for that I guess, everyone's encouraging each other to drink and all that shit, but peer pressure is a complete bullshit, thats just an excuse. I have shitloads of friends who drink and quite a few also who does drugs and stuff but I don't give into shit they try to tell me, plus, a good friend of mine who set his foot into a wrong pathway by starting pot regretted it hugely saying its not as great as they say it is and its not worth it etc.
I guess us teens are just not yet mature and experienced enough to make wise decisions, so much to say for a 17 year old like me but hey :P

That is the best anwser ever. I have to agree here. It's who I am thats all there is to it. Thats the life style that I feel is best for me and I'm not going to live my life according to how others feel I should live it. I simplely love hardcore and I don't need intoxication as a crutch.
