In my town the crew that think their "scene", go to shows and dont even join in and just rag on the little kids that do. i think this is a huge misconception coz their still considered scene and all the youngsters try to be like them. So what do they do? rag on the kids younger than them. as the singer of God So Loved The World sayed "Wake the fuck up geraldton nowonder no bands wanna play here, your all like zombies" i was the only one that gave them cred, coz they were edge and thats not a favourite in this piss hic town either. im just wondering if this is a unique thing or are we truely losing the picture in hc?

Yeah, there are tons of scene kids, but plenty of guys that are not scene and come to dance and sing-a-long and what-not. Luckily we don't have a problem getting guys to play here, but there are way more people who sit outside of the pit then actually two-step and go to dance and have a good time, for most of the scene kids its just a huge get together social party.

this is kind of how it goes a lot of the time. There are kids who are there because the music speaks to them and they enjoy. The rest however are kids who are doing it to look cool and shout down people trying to figure stuff out and get into it.

Very true.

Man, half the kids here turn up looking cool with there buddies, pay into the gig and then stand outside when all the bands are playing. I mean, whats the point?

You can socialise with your mates anywhere but why go pay to watch bands then stand outside?

yeh its geometry. went to a insane show on sunday here but. one of the singers was running and jumping off walls. everyone was there for the music (with a few obvious exceptions) a dude broke his nose but laughed about it. enjoyed by all.

so iam at a battle of the bands out here to see one of the up and coming hXc band the rest where emo and death metal. but the hXc band came up last and we started danceing and singing and then we piled on the stage atop the singer and the place went off. so that next monday my chick is in class siting in front of two off the kids that were in a emo band. they talked so much shit about us dancing and how we pile on the stage and sang and how it was all pointless and childish. i say this because there are so many kids that are out here saying they are scene and dont join in and talk shit about us that do. i do not two-step every offen but i love to see kids dance other then music thats the only reason i like to go anymore. to many people are just there to hurt someone.

I love to dance my own way to hardcore bands, not conventional moves though. Some people would stare and call me a fag - Some people would even push me to the floor.
I'm a non-violent person so I just put a big smile on my face and started dancing more wildly. When people start hitting people who just want to watch though - that is where it crosses the line in my opinion.
Childish? I think gossiping is more childish.

u do get ppl just turn up because its cheap. and people dress to fit the scene which is kinda trying too hard in my book.
if you go because you love hardcore and you dont have to dress to prove it

see i always thought the music made you move the way it made you feel if you use your own moves just means thats how it works when you hear it.
anyway your moves may make it round the scene /gotta come from somewhere..

Hardcore Kids - Dancing and having a good time

Emo Kids - Sitting behind your back bitching about you in school whilst flicking there freshly straightened hair out of there faces and trying to sit comfortably with there seriously tight girly jeans.

Thats just the way it goes, you can have fun and a good time but they will bitch about you, behind your back though, notice that

Nah...

Everyone that goes to a show and actively participates in the local 'scene' is infact a 'scene kid'. think about it. It's the ones that stand around and do nothing that aren't. I go to shows looking how I wanna look (like a screamo/emo kid) and I'm the only one who gets in there and moshes and dances the entire night!

So, would you call me scene or what?

how i see it is every genre of music has a scene to define people to the music and lifestyle.
but when it comes to hardcore/emo/post hardcore ect everyone uses the term too losely.
scene kids are usaly the emos who follow the fasion trend making them easy to be called scene.

What about the hardcore fashion trend?
i do admit alot of people do follow the fasion too closly and forget about how inportant the music is.
every one seems to look the same at nearly every show, in the uk anyway.
alot of bands im my local scene lable themselfs hardcore when they dont resemble hardcore aintthe slighest.
